If you have alot of money stored in ectos, convert them all to Armbraces/ Z-Keys and forget about it. Ecto prices only affect one thing; the price of ectos, its that simple really.

Maybe Anet wants things like FoW armor to be affordable for more of the casual players so they'll be able to share that sense of accomplishment with the players who've spent years grinding. That IS sort of what they stood for in the first place.
Just a thought.
By the way, I never really understood why people used an item for 100k+ trades that could fluctuate at all. Why not do it with something that will ALWAYS cost the same.... like lockpicks or something? They always sell, and their price always stays the same at the merchant. Z-keys are a step closer to this, but their price isn't set in stone either. Sooner or later, their prices will drop too.
Now that I think of it, why is there a 100k trade limit anyway? Did Anet ever give us a good reason for that?

They made rare items more common, the price went lower, now that ectos are cheaper, doesn't that make those rare items more expensive? Or are people dumb and sell for the same price?

Something along the lines of they never wanted stuff to be out reach for the casual player. It is in some interview somewhere about the release of Sorraw's Furnance and the introduction of greens.
Before Sorraw's Furnance a Req. 9 15^50 gold longsword could go above 100k. Back then we had a 55 friendly UW.

I never understood that either. But Lockpicks are relatively new, in a way. Back when HM did not exist, ectos were used. I guess people are too lazy to change.

Ecto prices would stabilise if Tom, Dick and Henrietta stopped panicking and not dump the Ectos stacks on the Rare Mat Trader. Once the overflow is bought up ectos will return to around 4.5K.

Yeah but to Tom, Dick and Henrietta, selling it to the trader might be a lot more appealing that having to stand around in spamadan, trying to figure out the magic number that'll make people buy their ectos.

You know, I don't quite recall this much whining when ectos dropped from 16k to 5k.

Who cares about ecto prices?? when i bought my first Obsi armor, ectos were 15kea.... now i bought my 5th at 4kea...
Just play the game, it's not about money...
What's the big deal? - maybe Anet's just punishing those ppl with xxx stacks for buying gold on the internet xD
Is it just me, or have the Guru forums transformed to Flame/Troll-guru?
^^

I like threads that offer little to no constructive discussion, with +1s and pics.
